After. The floor goes in first and the baseboards sit on the finished surface, covering the expansion gap and closing tight to the floor.
Yes. New baseboards are caulked and painted in place, and we also repaint existing baseboards as a job on its own.
MDF is smooth and economical for painted trim in dry rooms. In bathrooms, laundry rooms, and anywhere floors get mopped, solid wood or PVC holds up better to moisture.
Taller, more detailed baseboards suit higher ceilings and traditional homes; simpler, flatter profiles suit modern rooms. We bring samples so you can see the profile against your own wall and floor.
Floors are rarely perfectly flat. The right fix is to scribe the trim to follow the floor or add shoe molding, not to pack the gap with caulk.
