We Built a Kitchen from a Bare Block Wall in Alpharetta
Starting with the Bare Wall
The job started with a bare block wall and no kitchen in the area. We built the drywall wall and ran the electrical, water and drain lines the kitchen needed. From there, our scope ran through cabinets, countertops, backsplash, the sink and appliances.
Nothing about the space suggested a kitchen. There was no supply line, no drain and no circuit to work from, so the first days went into building the wall and bringing services to it rather than into anything the client would ever see. Every finish that followed sits on top of that work.
Bringing Water to the Kitchen
Getting water to the new kitchen area was the biggest challenge. There was no supply connection nearby, so we had to bring the lines from a more distant part of the property.
The supply lines run overhead, through the space above the ceiling tiles. For drainage, we tied into the drain serving the bathroom next door. That connection was closer, so the drain was the easier part of the plumbing work.
Installing the Cabinets and Countertop
The cabinets went in first, then the butcher block countertop. The wood got a clear Sherwin-Williams finish, which keeps its grain visible alongside the white cabinet fronts.
The countertop wraps around the corner of the kitchen. The sink and cooking area were installed as part of the same scope.
Completing the Backsplash
With the cabinets and countertop done, we installed the backsplash above the countertop. The rectangular tiles are laid in offset horizontal rows around the corner and along the cooking wall.
Spacers held every course while the adhesive set, so the rows stay even as they run around the corner. That corner is where an offset pattern drifts if the courses are left to find their own level.
Finishing the Kitchen Installation
Last came the sink and appliances, including the cooking equipment and microwave. The job took seven working days in April 2026, and the price fell in the $2,000 to $4,000 range.
Drywall, electrical and plumbing work, followed by the cabinet, countertop and backsplash installations, turned an area that started as a bare block wall into a kitchen.
